 UseDepending on their physical and chemical characteristics, chemical composition, quality, zeolites content volcanic tuffs are used in different domains such as:• filters and purifiers industry;• construction materials industry;• glass and ceramics industry;• abrasives industry;• agriculture (fertilizer for soil improvement) and livestock (animal feed);in human health-oriented industries (detoxification, nutritional support products, etc.);• medicine (preparations retaining radionuclides in organism);• environmental field (purification of drinking and waste water, purification of gases, cleaning of surfaces contaminated with pesticides etc.)• domestic utilities (production of dishwasher detergent, water softeners, water filters, etc.)•Recommended granulations are in the range L5 mm (industry, filters), below 2 mm (livestock) and under 30μm (detoxification, human health) and are given by the characteristics of the final products incorporating zeolites and technical specifications of experts.Products containing zeolites are recommended in the treatment of diseases linked to gastro-intestinal, cardiovascular and central nervous system, liver and kidney, tumor, skin disorders. For healthy people, zeolites are recommended to improve the quality of life by eliminating toxins, removing oxidative stress, decrease in the aging of cells and increase of physical and mental efficiency.Zeolite has no toxic effects or adverse reactions.Macroscopic descriptionThe sample provided by the beneficiary is volcanic tuffs with macroscopic petrographic features:Sampling site:RupeaColor: greenish rock, finely granular (aleuritic). On the rock cracksthere are deposits of iron hydroxides.• Rock nature: pyroclastTuf vitroclastic cu structură mecanică – clastică constituit din fragmente de cristale angulare (cristaloclaste) prinse într-o masă fundamentală fin cristalizată. Masa fundamentală este formată din minerale diagenetice rezultate prin cirstalizarea sticlei vulcanice. Textura rocii este aleuritoplasmatică.Cristaloclaste: participă în proporție de aproximativ 10% și sunt reprezentate prin cuarț, feldspat plagioclaz, biotit (opacitizat) și mucosovit.Masa fundamentală (90%) este formată dintr-o asociație de minerale de natură digenetica formate pe seama sticlei vulcanice. Mineralele diagentice sunt reprezentate prin zeoliți, minerale argiloase, clorite, alături de care mai sunt prezente calcit și oxi-hidroxizi de fier (1%).
